Australian Coarse Fishing - Introduction

The term ‘coarse fishing’ originated in the United Kingdom several hundred years ago and put simply, it means nothing more than bait fishing, as opposed to fly fishing or spinning. The basic idea revolves around perfect bait presentation in any conditions and combined with highly effective groundbaiting or berleying methods greatly improves any anglers chance of catching fish.

Catching fish today is becoming harder than ever before, increased angling pressure, pollution, urban sprawl, acid rain, an alarming increase in the use of pesticides, habitat degradation, the list goes on! All taking their toll and making it ever more difficult to catch fish consistently.

Coarse fishing has been revolutionised in recent years by a surge of hi-tech advancements in tackle and techniques which have improved the angler’s equipment almost beyond recognition. Today there is a range of tackle and baits available to catch fish almost by design, so effective are some of the methods that in some countries, coarse fishing techniques are banned!

There’s an old saying: "Big fish get big by being smart – not stupid" and in this book I will explain how to not only find fish but stimulate them into feeding and present baits in such a natural way that the fish have almost no chance of resisting.

People go fishing for many different reasons. Some to relax, unwind, have a few beers and watch the world go by!

Not me! I go fishing to catch fish and if, like me, you are passionately serious about catching fish, then I believe this book will help you. It will make you think about how you fish, where you fish and give you ways of setting up your tackle that are infinitely adjustable until you strike the best method of bait presentation on the day. Good luck, good fishing, enjoy the book and send me some photos.
